When is the last time you had professional photos taken?
A year, over a year or maybe even never?
Getting professional photos is something you shouldn't skimp out on. Why? Because you are never going to get THIS time back. That's right, THIS time. Think right now of all the special moments and precious memories you wish you had forever capsulated for decades to come.
How? A professional portrait photographer.
A photographer is someone you are letting see inside "your story" even if it's just in 30 minutes and it's important to find the right one that you love. Here are some things to look for in a portrait photographer.
STYLE: One of the first things you will be attracted to for your next session will be their style. This is how they photograph, their editing skills and really the mood and feelings that overcomes you when you see their photos. Haven't felt that? You may have not found it.
But for real, you will want to book a professional photographer who's style you love. You love their tones. You love the emotion in their photos. You love they compose the overall photo. You will also want to book an actual portrait photographer. A portrait photographer is confident in poses and movement and can help compliment your features.
PERSONALITY: This is sometimes hard to gauge if you don't know the photographer before hand. If you know the photographer prior to booking, then you will probably have a good idea if you like this person and if you "click." And yes, this is important for a portrait session. This matters so much because this person is taking precious photos of you and your family. You are trusting this person to tell you where to stand and where to put your hands. You want this person to be fun and confident.
My clients rely on me. They want me to tell them which way to move, where to put their hair. They trust me with their kids and know I will get those great photos they booked me for. How do they know? Because I tell them and we "click." Isn't that important with relationships and friendships? It is with your photographer as well. I am confident in my work and knowing I can rocked your session and walk away as friends. I want you to have fun and remember this as a great experience.
PROFESSIONALISM: This is an important one. When looking for a portrait session, make sure you are hiring someone who knows how to work with children, includes contracts and doesn't just ask for $50 over Facebook Pay. I said it.
Listen, this is important too - contracts are important. Knowing how to navigate weird situations and know how to talk to people is key. I provide all my contracts, retainers and more thru my website. This protects YOU and ME.
REVIEWS: Biggest form of marketing? Word of mouth. Yes, it's true. Not always those Google reviews, Yelp or recommendations on Facebook. Ask around. Honestly, I ask new clients where did they learn about me, and it is 98% word of mouth. I also follow up with clients after their session and delivery of photos for them to give me an HONEST review.
Why? I want honest feedback. I want to know how I can make this experience even more than you expected.
NOW WHAT?
Does your photographer meet all of those four goals for you? They may be your perfect match. If you love their style, their personality, have great reviews and is professional - Book them, they are probably worth it.
Do I sound like I can be your family photographer? Say hi!
