As a Salmon Idaho photographer, I’m always keeping mental notes of dreamy locations—those hidden gems you pass a hundred times and think, one day, I need to shoot there. There’s one particular spot nestled in the Salmon-Challis National Forest that I’ve been eyeing for what feels like forever. Each time I’d drive by, I’d catch myself glancing at the sky, watching the way the light hits the trees, the snow-kissed mountains in the distance, and making a mental note to come back.

This time, I actually remembered. And it was magic.

Decker and Harli were the perfect couple to bring to this special place. They trusted the vision, hopped in the car, and took the drive into this peaceful slice of Idaho wilderness—and wow, did it deliver. This location was every bit as romantic and serene as I had imagined, and the two of them brought it to life.

Their love for each other was easy to see. The way Decker looked at Harli, the way she leaned into him like home—it was effortless. And surrounded by pine trees, fresh mountain air, and the soft golden light of spring, their connection felt even more tangible. The little snow-capped peak in the distance framed them perfectly, like nature’s quiet nod of approval.

One of my favorite things about being an Idaho engagement photographer is witnessing moments like this—quiet, intimate, and real. Engagement sessions aren’t just about pretty photos (although, let’s be honest, these two made it easy); they’re about telling a part of your story. This is the season before forever, the in-between where everything feels exciting and full of promise.

Decker and Harli’s session felt like that—full of laughter and a whole lot of love. It was a reminder of why I love doing what I do. Whether it’s deep in the forest or on the edge of town, finding the right place to tell your story is everything. And when couples are up for a little adventure, that’s when the real magic happens.
