Chelsea and I met when we worked together years ago. Even though she didn't like me at first, we quickly became friends. And now we talk almost every day.
I get to take Jeremy and Chelsea's children's photos quite often, whether it is a themed mini session, school portraits or family photos - it's been fun watching them grow and change. When I first took photos of them, Kyla had to pretend she was chewing down on gum to smile. And I will accuse Chelsea of being a helicopter mom on hair but Rylee and Kyla are patient.
We have done photos at many different locations over the years - Morgan Bar, Island Park - but Chelsea wanted to go to the cliffs. The cliffs is such a beautiful location. High over town, right on the river and literally on cliffs plus a lot of cactus. I don't always suggest or want to bring clients to the cliffs especially if they have young children. There are a ton of cactus, possibility of snakes and again on cliffs. But Chelsea insisted. By the end of the session she said I was right - not the best for children. At just turning two, Hunter couldn't walk very far on his own because of the cactus.
But the photos were worth it.
I really did love this location especially after Chelsea and I worked together to plan out the color/outfits for her family. I thought the blue shouldn't be stuck in a lot of green and they have always had a lot of greenery in their family photos. The open space allowed more light during blue hour and the blue stood out so beautifully. So while it wasn't the best place it all worked perfectly!
