Dustin & Ellen Mayo - Hamilton, Montana Wedding
Mr. & Mrs. {Finally}
I met these two when they were planning a 2020 wedding Yes, a 2020 wedding which you probably guessed it - didn't happen. They planned and planned and it just wasn't going to work with so many family members needing to travel.
Fast forward three years and these two had one of the most beautiful intimate weddings I have been too. The three-year planning period allowed the couple to really focus on their day and what was important to them, and who was important to them.
The sized down their original plans and really focused on the details. The details were everything for this Montana wedding. Yes, Montana. I love photographing Montana weddings. Early in my career I booked quite a few Montana couples every year. Now I am tend to book fast and early for Salmon locals. Montana weddings are some of the most beautiful weddings I have been too, and theirs was no exception.
She got married on a friend's property a perfect red barn, a gorgeous view of the mountains - it was perfection for their closest family and friends.
They exchanged their own vows overlooking the Bitterroot Valley, it was so gorgeous. Montana has also had a really wet summer, rain clouds were lingering but the weather stayed beautiful the entire day.
Dustin's "allergies" kicked in right as he saw Ellen, which made him get a little teary eyed. The two of them really got everyone teary eyed with their written vows. So sweet and genuine.
The couple had the most beautiful table settings, the flowers were so vibrant and colorful - every single person must have commented on them. Not only were they colorful but they were arranged perfectly with the sage green runners and gold accents. The details were not missed.
Of course they served their guests local Montana beef (of choice of salmon). They served steak, potatoes, salad - the works really. For their cake they opted for their favorite, cheesecake of course.
I love when couples choose their favorite desserts rather than just a traditional cake. It's your day you two can literally have whatever you want. In addition to the served cake they had a snow cone wagon on hand, read below about that!
Something new for me, and many other guests was auctioning off the bride's bouquet. That was really fun and a great fundraiser for the couple's honeymoon. Ellen's bouquet was quite the arrangement.
I am so happy for these two. They were surrounded by so many family and friends who love them and how they describe have been great examples of love and relationships for them. One thing is certain, these two love one another but also appreciate one another. I am so happy to be apart of their big day and getting to know them better over the past few years.

Montana Wedding Snow Cone Wagon
Yes, Snow Cone Wagon.
Ellen told me she wanted to find something different, something unique and fun for their reception. And that she did. Ellen found a great snowballs wagon. They have so many different flavor and combinations.
Bitterroot Snowballs
"A sensational refreshing treat. It’s not Hawaiian shaved ice. It’s not a snow-cone. It’s a STUFFED SNOWBALL. Perfectly shaved ice, flavored with your choice of sweet or sour syrup’s, stuffed with creamy delicious ice cream, finished off with fun toppings such as cotton candy, pop rocks or gummy worms & yummy marshmallow cream just to name a few!"
This was such a fun twist and surprise to guests. Many guests visited the wagon multiple times to try all the different flavors and combinations. There were SO MANY. Dustin and Ellen enjoy a Star-Spangled Banner snowball.
It has Blueberry, Wedding Cake & Strawberry Snow atop Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and is topped with Marshmallow Cream, Whipped Cream Red, White & Blue Sprinkles & Mini Old Glory Flag.
It was a fun moment for Dustin and Ellen to share with their snowball at their wedding.
If you are looking for a new and unique thing to add to your wedding or event call Bitterroot Snowballs.
