2024 Wedding Trends from an Idaho Wedding Photographer
Trends are ever evolving. It seems like as soon as one thing is "in" it is just as quickly "out." It can be so hard to follow what is trendy and not especially if you are a couple that is planning 12+ months in advance.
Traditions are seen through the wedding planning process and day of celebrations. One thing I DO KNOW as a wedding photographer is IT IS your day and you should do what you want and have it how you want.
With that being said I put together some 2024 Wedding Trends which are trendy but also timeless because I don't want to steer you wrong.
Micro/Petite Bouquets
Let's face is everything is expensive and the wedding industry is no different. With an industry already known to be "expensive" I think couples are going to find ways to save on their budget to use in other ways.
One thing I think we will see more of are micro bouquets especially for bridal parties. These are minimal if ANY flowers at all, if they do carry flowers they may be used later as centerpieces on tables etc.
Flash Photography
This has been an upcoming trend for 2023 and I am sure into 2024. Flash photography was once upon a time a necessity in some conditions resulting in hard lighting situations.
I want to say this is a trend and really comes down to preference. I play around with flash photography during the reception especially on the dance floor. I stay away from using flash unless necessary due to the lighting conditions.
I love these party photos they have been a quick favorite of mine and hope to get more of these in 2024!
Wedding Cakes for Two
Over the last couple of years I have seen more couples opt for smaller desserts or more economical. I think we will see a lot of couples choose to get their favorite cake (cheesecake has been a top contender) and get something else for their guests.
They have gotten bite size cheesecake dessert cups, cupcakes or a dessert table for their guests. More and more couples are indulging in what they like just for them, and why not, it's their big day.
The couple still has a sweet treat for the guests it's on a smaller scale instead of a giant piece of cake per person.
Extended Wedding Weekends
Living in a rural more resort town I have photographed my fair share of extended wedding weekends. Salmon has become quite the destination location for weddings. A lot of couples are getting married here and inviting their friends and family for a week or weekend adventure in Salmon, Idaho.
This often includes adventuring through downtown Salmon, whitewater rafting, visiting hot springs, the list goes on and on.
I see the majority of these couples getting married at Sweet Water Hollow. A great spot where they can rent for the duration of the weekend for all their dinners and get togethers. It really is great.
Telephone Guest Books
These have been so popular and I do not think they are slowing down for the 2024 wedding season. I think wedding guest books are going to start being a lot of different things. Traditionally guests will sign their name and/or well wishes in a book, the guest book.
This has evolved over time with couples finding different and unique way for their guests to share their love and their attendance. Telephone guest books are essentially voicemails. It's really simple and a fun twist on the traditional guest book.
Guests simply pick up the phone, listen for the beep, leave a message for the couple and hang up. The message is recorded for them. This is a special way to share marriage advice, well wishes but is so precious. Imagine hearing your guests later, so much fun.
