Steven and his truck
I will be honest . . . . most senior guys hate the idea of senior portraits. I actually haven't met many who were "okay" with it. Steven not only showed up without his mom but willing to do anything. Now don't get me wrong, it's okay for mom to come BUT sometimes it makes the situation just a little more awkward.
It get awkward when mom is telling him to "smile" or do something different, or sometimes they are looking to mom for everything. So I was happy when Steven ditched his mom for the session.
Steven wanted to get some photos with his truck which was also his senior project. He fixed it up, got it running and it's is pretty cool. Did you notice the toolbox? So neat! It is really neat to see what the graduates create and do for their senior projects - there have been so many great ones over the years. Steven's truck is pretty neat and nearly every car that drove by slowed down to look.
Steven and I just walked around and I had to pose and tell him how to move and he already had it down thanks to his friend Avery. She is also a senior in high school and he has taken photos with his quite a few times so he knew what he was in for, which worked great. I could just tell him where I wanted him and he just knew how to sit. His confidence was great.
I loved using his truck as a "prop." A lot of seniors in past years used a lot of older trucks/cars in their photos but this is even more special since it's his truck, a truck he spent countless hours on and is really proud of.
Steven shared with me that he is joining the armed services and leaves in August. Which is always an amazing thing and a pleasure to take his senior portraits.
