Spring Family Time with the Hershberger Family
It had been a few years since the Hershberger family stood in front of my camera, and it was such a joy to have them back. Life has a way of moving fast—between school, work, sports, and dance, it’s easy to blink and realize how much time has passed. That’s why I always say: even if it’s just every couple of years, take the time to book a family photo session. The years are short, and these moments are worth remembering.
The Hershbergers are one of those families who are always on the go. Hockey games, hikes, and dance routines fill their calendar, but they carved out time for this session—and I’m so glad they did. Family photos are important no matter what age your kids are. As children grow and begin to step into who they are, it’s special to document those changes, not just for the pictures, but for the memories made while taking them.
One of my favorite parts about photographing families is seeing how they interact when the distractions fall away. No phones, no to-do lists—just a little space to breathe, laugh, and be together. Jake kept us all laughing this time around, just like he did at their last session in 2022. He may or may not have done something hilarious behind the scenes to get Kaylee’s biggest smiles—those genuine sibling moments are my favorite.
Looking back on their first session, it’s incredible how much can change in just a few years. Jake and Kaylee have grown so much, and it’s beautiful to see their personalities shining through even more now.
Kristina did an amazing job coordinating their outfits in soft shades of blue, which is always a favorite of mine for spring sessions. Blue is fresh, calming, and photographs beautifully with natural backgrounds. If you’re planning your own spring session, I always recommend choosing a color palette that feels natural and cohesive—it really brings the whole session together.
