One thing you can't get back is time and when it comes to our children time literally flies. Thinking about my own son, I won't get this time back with as a 10-year-old. It's probably his last year shorter than me, he is nearly my height. This may be the last year he will still let me tuck him in maybe three nights a week. I will never get this time. 

That's why it's so important we are taking opportunities to celebrate milestones and document this time with your children and who they are today. Time really does fly, I know we all use that expression so much but it's true and I feel like it may not be something we appreciate until we are older. 

You'll never get your kids' childhood back so take this time and get those photos with them - not just of them but with you as well.

Your children will want photos of you.

Photographs are one of the best ways to stop time and make a memory. I have boxes of photographs of family including my mom. I grew up in a time where we had to take actual photos and the roll of film developed so I have a ton of photographs but as technology advancement and time we are more and more reliant on that technology. Once I became a mother I really wanted to take those photos of me and my son. I wanted to get tangible memories for generations like I have of my own mother. When your children are older they are going to reach for photos of you. You aren't going to get this time back with your children, you can't get their childhood back - now is the best time to get mommy and me photos.

You are always behind the camera.

If you are anything like me (as a mom and not a photographer) you are always BEHIND the camera and not in front of the camera with your children. Chances are you are always taking cute photo of your children and their small milestones and big accomplishments. You may the one to insist of photos with dad real quick but there is never a photo of you and the kids and if there is one is probably a selfie. And that's okay. As a mom, I feel ya. I am always asking my 10-year-old for a photo and it's usually of just him and if it's a selfie he has some weird smile. You need to be in front of the camera too with your children. You may not have a professional photographer at every single milestone but together we create a memorable session as if it was a celebration. 

Hating the way you look is not excuse. 

"I want to lose 10 pounds," I hear this a lot. This is not a good excuse to not get mommy and me photos. Everyone says they hate the way they look in photographs and they, "don't know what to do" with their hands. Every time we see a photo of ourselves and find it awful we think we are ugly or fat but it comes down to lighting, posing and even your facial expression. All of things come together when you allow a professional to do this for you. As a professional East Idaho photographer I am going to pose you in flattering positions. Stop worrying about how you look.  

You are important.

You are. You deserve beautiful professional photos of you and your children. Moms often put themselves last usually in every department of the household. You deserve more. You are not only a special part of the family, chances are you are the most instrumental person in the family. Seriously. Why are you putting yourself last and not booking that special mommy and me session?
