Chelsea and I worked together on styling for her annual family session.
She said she always feels like something is lacking overall in the end, so we worked to fine tune the colors and really mix and match different textures and patterns. I know some people are afraid to mix patterns and certain colors but it can work and it when it does it will make your family photos.
You don't want your family all in one color. It will look flat and one big colored blob. BOOOO!
I loved the choice of blue. Not only is blue my favorite color but I really love how it photographed. Chelsea and her husband Jeremy wore solid colors which helped balance the prints and patterns of the the kids' shirts. And Jeremy's hat worked perfectly with his shirt as well as the overall look so I didn't mind it.
Her daughters just got new school clothes so she wanted to start with their shirts first. Both Rylee and Kyla's shirts are stripped but I assure Chelsea she wouldn't notice and they would blend beautifully. Rylee's shirt is a dark navy stripped shirt with her undershirt the same color as mom's. Kyla's light blue shirt matched mom's, had a cute little tie but also added a bit of texture with the lace sleeves.
Hunter's shirt was a last minute purchase to match the rest of the family's. It was a perfect match to the blue shirt mom purchased and added some extra blue and little bit of green.
I really loved how the blue is kind of minty and fresh. I liked the color choice with the location the neutral colors of the mountains and blue sky really allowed for the family to stand out.
