2022 Senior: Trevan
Meet Trevan.
This guy was pretty nervous for his session, rightfully so - some weird lady is going to make me awkwardly smile at a camera. That would make me nervous too.
But he showed up - and showed out.
I think there is a perception that senior photos are for "girls." And that is not the case at all. I believe we think that because we mostly see girls doing it, they are running thru a field with wildflowers.
Guy senior sessions are totally different. They usually have maybe two shirts, if I am lucky and want to get it done as soon as possible, actually they want to get it done before it even starts.
I knew I wanted to take Trevan to a more "masculine" place. I wanted to break the mold of "senior sessions are for the girls." And let's be honest, we have seen the mountains and trees, open fields, it's kind of next to explore different ideas and places.
That's exactly what we did.
I had Trevan meet me on Highway 93 North, where they are storing the rocks for the Whitewater Park. When I saw that area scattered with all these kind of different shapes of rocks I was intrigued. I felt like it would be a great spot that is more masculine and is actually different.
I think it worked out perfectly. The rocks were great we carefully navigated the area, chose different angles and ideas. Trevan trekked away with me and did anything I asked even if he just couldn't do it.
He said he was nervous at first. Butterflies are normal. And once he got used to me bossing him around and he could relax knowing I wasn't going to bite, Trevan began to shine. I feel like you can see in the photos the moment he was like, "this isn't bad."
His smile is contagious.
As I was picking some of Trevan's sneak peek photos I started thinking about many senior sessions I have done for this family.
I photographed Trevan, his cousin, his older sister, his aunt and his uncle for all of their senior sessions. That is crazy. I went on a deep dive to find a photo from each session because why not.
I just took Trevan's and his couson's Anika's senior photos, so easy. It took a minute to find Tamtryn (Trevan's older sister) and Kelly's was harder (Trevan's aunt). The hardest was Derek's his uncle, I can't find of his. Those were so long ago, that would be an interesting side by side of then and now.
It's kind of crazy to see all of these together and to realize I have been there for a lot of important moments for this family when it comes to their children. How lucky am I to be able to travel thru this journey with so many different graduating seniors.
